COMMISSIONER DURHAM RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE AT GEORGIA MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION MAYORS' DAY CONFERENCE

At the City Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, Commissioner Kentaiwon Durham was recognized by the Mayor and Commissioners for receiving the Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Elected officials from Douglas were among hundreds of city officials to attend the Georgia Municipal Association's Mayors' Day Conference in Atlanta, January 25 to 28, 2019. The annual Mayors' Day Conference provides city officials with an opportunity to learn more about legislation under consideration, attend training sessions, and hear from state leaders.

Commissioner Kentaiwon Durham received the Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute. To receive a Certificate of Excellence, a city official must complete a minimum of 120 hours of training, including at least 54 hours from a list of required courses, the Newly Elected Officials Institute and the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute.

"This is an outstanding achievement," said GMA Executive Director Larry Hanson. "We commend Commissioner Durham for this accomplishment and for the dedication he's shown in using this valuable resource to become a more effective city official."

Among those attending Mayors' Day this year, were Governor Brian Kemp and several other state leaders.
