materials for businesses, contractors or rental

materials from remodeling projects that they
have done themselves, as a curiosity. In those
cases we will only pick up an average size
pickup truck load or less.
The Public Works
Department does not pick up the following:
Shingles, tires, stumps, paint cans, or any
chemical containers (drums). Contact TransWaste

The Public Works
Department does not pick up any materials from
land clearing projects or trees cut by a
contractor.
Animal control is a
very useful branch of the Public Works
Department, which is used to control the animals
inside the city limits. It is responsible for
the picking up dead animals. That includes
picking up animals off main streets, parking
lots, businesses where food is served and also
banks, doctor’s offices, etc. It is the
responsibility of home owner to bring dead
animals to the edge of the road (prefer bagged)
for Animal Control to pick up.
Animal Control will
pick up animals surrendered by owners such as
dogs, cats, snakes, etc. If needed, traps can
be set for stray or unwanted animals.
Responsible pet
owners need to know that along with the
obligation to properly feed, shelter, and care
for a pet, there are laws known as ordinances,
created by city government to protect the
animal, the pet owner, and other members of our
community. The City of Douglas Animal Control
enforces all city ordinances which pertain to
animals. See Website below:
