The City of Douglas Community Development Department writes and administers grants and provides planning, zoning, economic development, and other support services vital to the growth of the City of Douglas.
The department also issues permits and business licenses, manages the airport, and enforces all codes and ordinances

This is the City of Douglas Unified Land Development Code as adopted by Mayor and Commission on February 28, 2011.  This code may be amended from time to time by ordinance. Contact the Community Development Department for questions.

Urban Redevelopment Plan
The City of Douglas Urban Redevelopment Plan was adopted in 2010 and was amended and updated in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.  For the complete plan, please contact Dale Batten at the City of Douglas, 224 W. Bryan Street, call 912-389-3433 or email.

DOUGLAS IS DESIGNATED AS A PLAN FIRST COMMUNITY

Commissioner Olivia Pearson, Commissioner Cindy McNeill, and Commissioner Kentaiwon Durham along with Community Development Director Dale Batten accepted the PlanFirst plaque on behalf of the City of Douglas.  The group first met at the Coverdale Legislative Office Building where the plaque was presented to city officials then they went to the Capitol for a picture with Governor Deal.  The award was presented by staff of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.  Cook County, City of Dunwoody and City of Vidalia were also awarded the PlanFirst designation.
