The Public Information Division of Community Development is dedicated to educate, engage, and inspire our community to help them better understand and participate in their City Government.
The Public Information Office is here to facilitate communication with citizens, businesses, elected officials, and the City Manager's Office regarding City services, projects, and events. The Media Relations Office also works to communicate directly with members of the media in both preparing and placing stories and responding to media inquiries. A key goal of this office is to deliver timely, accurate, consistent, cohesive and strategic communications to the City's constituencies. To reach our goal we educate, inform, engage, and inspire our community to help them better understand in their City Government.
Our scope of work is to:
- Facilitate City-wide media relations, events, marketing and communications;
- Produce WDTV-13, Douglas' local government access channel;
- Coordinate Douglas 101 Citizen's Academy, Group Tours, Events, and Festivals;
- Manage the City's website and social media initiatives.

Camera Ready Georgia Film Team Visits Douglas
On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, and Wednesday, March 27, 2019, Atlanta based Craig Miller Productions, visited Douglas and Coffee County. Craig Miller (Owner/Producer) and Kit Vinsick (Director), came to Douglas to see the World War II Airbase and Flight Training Museum. Jennifer Chilton (Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director) and Blondale Thomas (Douglas Public Information Manager), led the team on a "world tour" of Coffee County featuring the airbase, museum, downtown, restaurants, and the State Park.
"While the team was here, we decided to show several film locations in Douglas and Coffee County," says Blondale Thomas, Public Information Manager. "They filmed a lot of our locations and took a lot of photos. Who knows, maybe we'll get more film scouts here soon and an offer for a major movie production at one of our local venues or landmarks."
Georgia's Camera Ready program began in 2010 with 16 counties as members. The program helps filmmakers locate film locations and identify through the camera ready liaisons who they need to talk to in Georgia communities. Douglas became a Camera Ready Community in 2011 along with 72 other Georgia communities. As of 2014, all Georgia counties are now Camera Ready Communities. Douglas' Camera Ready liaison is Jennifer Chilton.
"We know there are other areas in Douglas and Coffee County that filming would be ideal, however, those areas must be accessible to a film crew and not located in a protected habitat," says Jennifer Chilton, Tourism Director/Camera Ready Liaison.
